Michael's life has been a tapestry woven with diverse experiences and a deep connection to his roots in New Orleans. Born in the vibrant city of New Orleans and raised in St. Bernard Parish, he graduated from Chalmette Senior High and Elaine P. Nunez Technical Vocational School. At the age of 17, he embarked on a transformative journey by joining the US Navy, where he delved into the realms of electrical and electronics, studying in San Diego, CA.
Stationed in Jacksonville, FL, Michael served aboard the USS Forrestal CV-59 aircraft carrier, contributing to the defense of his nation. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he transitioned into a career encompassing electrical, mechanical, and construction disciplines. Michael's commitment to excellence led him to obtain his LA State licenses in electrical, mechanical, gas, residential building, and commercial construction.
The US Air Force Reserves recognized Michael's skills, recruiting him to serve in the engineering department. Later, he transferred to Belle Chasse, where he took on the role of a security police officer, showcasing his versatility in service.
In 1989, Michael celebrated a significant milestone by marrying Tracy. Their 35-year journey together has been marked by joy and shared experiences. Tracy's Sicilian heritage adds a fascinating dimension to their story, with her great-grandfather credited for creating the first Muffuletta in 1906.
The couple's union has been blessed with two children, Megan and Andrew, both carving their paths in real estate. Tracy's background as a Realtor, involved selling the new construction homes Michael built, seemingly influenced their children's career choices. Andrew, currently pursuing his Ph.D., is balancing academics and real estate, while Megan, married to Stephen Ledbetter for five years, is enjoying the blessings of motherhood with their daughter, Amelia.
Outside his professional and family life, Michael finds joy in the culinary arts, showcasing his skills in delicious chicken and sausage gumbo and other New Orleans staples. His love for fishing, a passion for working with his hands, and a keen interest in construction highlight his multifaceted personality.
In essence, Michael's journey unfolds as a testament to resilience, dedication, and a deep appreciation for the diverse facets of life, all woven together in the vibrant tapestry of New Orleans and beyond.
